The Rhinos season opener apparently will not be broadcast on local airwaves due to a conflict with the WYSL broadcast of the Red Wings game.
You will be able to get the game featuring play by play by Soccer Sam and color commentary by Rhinos executive VP Matthew Ford on WYSL's website.
Also, USL Live has announced their pricing plans (Season pass, Monthly Pass, Per Game) and you can read about it here at TriSoccerFan.com.
Abby Wambach named to US roster for match versus Mexico on Saturday
Speaking of another game that will only be available via the internet, the US will take on Mexico in Foxboro, Mass on Saturday evening and Rochester native Abby Wambach has been named to the 18 woman roster. The game will be broadcast via Video Web Stream on ussoccer.com's MatchACCESS.
Former Boston College forward Charlie Davies will have to wait to make his pro debut
Charlie Davies turned down an offer from MLS and opted to head to Sweden and sign with Hammarby. Davies was set to make his pro debut this week versus GAIS. However, the former Boston College Eagle has picked up a minor thigh injury and will have to wait to make his Swedish pro debut.
It's going to be very interesting to see how Davies career goes given his decision to go straight to a secondary European pro league out of college as opposed to signing with MLS.
Columbus to sign Boca Junior legendary midfielder Guillermo Barros Schelotto
Schellotto doesn't have the name recognition of Beckham, Blanco, or Reyna, but he is set to become MLS' 4th Designated Player. The Argentine midfielder will turn 34 next month and it will be interesting to see how much gas he has left in the tank. He has been with Boca Juniors for close to a decade and will be expected to spark the Crew offense as the midfield engine.
MLS has seen players like Marco Etcheverry and Carlos Valderamma play the maestro role amazingly well into their mid-30s, so it would not be an unprecedented move.
And how quickly will Jacob Thomas give up the #7 shirt for Columbus?
