US Soccer is investigating claims that Blanco not only gouged DC United's Clyde Simms' eye, but that he headbutted a DC United official that was escorting him away from the Chicago bench after gettign red carded.
It appears that MLS would like to see the video evidence as well.
It's going to be interesting to see how US Soccer and MLS handle this blow up by the famously volatile designated player......
News & Notes:
- Devo has an article in today's D&C breaking down the deal that landed Andrew Gregor in Rochester.
Jeff is going to interview Andrew for tomorrow's game preview story, so head over to Devo's Blog and give him some questions you'd like him to ask.
- Grant Wahl's latest article at SI.com focuses on Jozy Altidore's move to Villareal.
- Edy Sebrango scored twice last night as Vancouver tied Toronto FC 2-2 in a Nutrilite Canadian Championship game last night.
- With the new stadium almost up and running, Real Salt Lake has been named as hosts for the 2009 MLS All-Star game. I wonder if they'll get Real Madrid to be the opponent?
- Surprise, surprise, the Red Bulls are going through roster upheaval again......
- With some news on a new stadium for the New England Revolution, it will be interesting to see who gets a stadium first: DC or NE?
- Tonight's LA-Chivas USA match should be fun as apparently Chivas USA head coach Preki has yet to get over the way Landon Donovan celebrated his goals when he scored a hat trick in LA's 5-2 thrashing of their Home Depot Center roommates. Like I said before: Embrace the hate!
- DC United gets better local TV ratings than the Washington Nationals. Gotta love it!
